Well, so much for sleep – I’m too excited. Erik & Annette* will be here this afternoon, dragging suitcases bulging with Danish candy and Akvavit. We’ve missed them so much there is a very distinct possibility of a spectacle in the Kiss and Cry.
They’ve come all the way from Denmark to help us celebrate The Viking’s descent into Grumpy Old Viking-hood. He’s been practicing for several years now and I think he has it nailed, just in time for his 60th birthday.
For now, I need to finish getting the house cleaned and I’m expecting shouting and crying and a loss of the will to live. You know – the usual emotions that precede just such events.
I feel several stiff drinks in the works later today and Hygge. Lots and lots of hygge.
Go ahead and leave The Viking birthday wishes in the comments. I’ll read them tomorrow at the party!
*Erik is The Viking’s brother and Annette is his beautiful partner.
Happy birthday, dearest Viking!! May the horns on your helmet never droop! (I was going to say “stay ever erect” but that sounded too dirty).
LOL! That exactly the kind of thing he would love. I’m definitely reading that one! 😂
Oh my!! Oh my!!
Can you believe this post got me excited? 😛 It’s The Viking’s Bday tomorrow AND more vikings are coming to our country??
I am definately preparing something for tomorrow… Please check your email later today 🙂
I will! He loves you and will want to hear from you. 🙂
A most happy birthday to the well-loved Viking (no matter how much she grumps and growls…)
And Hygge is the best word ever. Love what it means… doesn’t sound so cozy but hey…
HEY!!! Guess what? You aren’t trash anymore! 😂 Hygge IS the best word ever. Even better – it’s the best feeling too.
Hello again 🙂
I hope you got my little gift for The Viking yesterday by email… Just in case, I wanted to leave a little note here to say Tillykke med fødselsdagen! I hope Erik, Annette, you and The Viking are having a most hyggeligt time altogether 🙂
I raise my Akvavit glass to you all, and skål to this very special day!
Dear Viking, I don’t understand why you ever chose to leave Denmark to come live in Freezingland, but I am glad you made the sacrifice, so you could make this now lovely wife of yours happy! Please let me know if you plan on taking her back with you to your homeland… I’m training to fit in a suitcase, and I’d like to tag along 😛
Muah! Muah! Muah! Muah! I’m thinking about you four!! 🙂
It’s been a busy two days but we finally had a moment to sit and found your special gift. HE LOVES IT!! Erik & Annette are sleeping off the last of the jet lag but they’ll hear it tomorrow.
We love you! You are so sweet! I’ll give you a little bit of news…….we are actually looking at moving to Denmark. It will take a while to get everything in order but we ARE moving when we can. AND…..we are buying a house big enough for guests!! You will always be welcome. It will take at least a year before it all comes together though. You are the first person besides The Viking’s family that we’ve told. 😉
Thank you so much for the song. You made his day. Hugs and luvs to you, always. 😘😘😘
I am soooooo glad he enjoyed it 🙂 I am pretty shy when it comes to singing, so I hesitated a lot!
I can’t believe you are actually getting prepared for the big move! I am so happy for you! I can’t wait to learn that you found your new home, so I can start planning visiting you over there… Because I WILL, if your door is open, that’s a no-brainer 😉 There’s only one thing better than enjoying Danish hospitality, and it is enjoying Danish hospitality in Denmark! LOL Btw, check out your email when you read this, I also have a little scoop, just for you!
I know that the bloggosphere is a friendly place in general, but I never would have imagined that I would get this attached to people I haven’t met in person, or even talked to live! I love you two dearly, and again, big yay to both of you for the amazing new plans 🙂
*Big tight hugs*
